Traveler’s Phrase Book T-shirt

The easiest and the most efficient way to communicate with people would be talking. However, when people travel a foreign country and cannot speak the language, they have to use a different method of communication. This tee-shirt would be the instant solution for travelers. They do not need a translator or traveler’s guide book. All they need is to point a finger at a pictogram they need, and then point the question mark for two times, which would instantly inform the natives “where is it?” For this reason, the product is successful in terms of accessibility. Anyone can use it without modification.

When I first saw the tee-shirt, I was amazed by its simplicity. It is simple, yet is powerful and efficient. I remembered the time when I traveled Bangladesh for a year. I had hard time describing what I need and where I wanted to go because I did not speak the language. If I had this tee-shirt at that time, I think it would be very helpful and convenient.

In terms of aesthetics, I think it is pleasant to look at. Even if I wear this when I am not traveling, I do not think it would matte because of its neat and modern look. I also like how technology is not used to make it functional and accessible. The simple pictograms are more comprehensible than a portable translator; they are perceptible and problem solving. Therefore, it falls perfectly to aesthetic-usability. Moreover, the overall design of the tee-shirt adapted Ockham’s razor principle since there aren’t any unnecessary elements that would decrease its efficiency. However, the product may not work in performance versus preference method because it lacks the factor which contributes self-esteem of the user. The tee-shirt is inexpensive, fast and direct way to communicate with people. Yet it would not be a less desirable product, when there are other available alternatives which would satisfy the user’s well-being and self-esteem.
