Eating From the Toilet Bowl, Literally.

Taiwan's ''Modern Toilet'' Restaurant

I had first heard about this concept restaurant in my design process class last semester. It is called the Modern Toilet and it is located in Taipei, Taiwan.

This 'Toilet' themed restaurant seats 100 people - And every single seat is indeed -A TOILET!! This specific restaurant was honestly the very first thing that came to mind when I initially thought of experience design. Everything in the restaurant is Toilet (washroom) themed from the toilet seats to the toilet shaped ceramic bowls that they serve the food in.

Now, granted this isn't exactly the most attractive theme for a restaurant, it is no doubt an amazingly unique idea. I can appreciate the thought and creativity that was used in making this restaurant from making tiny toilets for ice cream, larger toilet bowls for main courses and even brown plastic turd shaped tops to keep food warm. Every little detail contributing to the aura of making this restaurant look like a huge public restroom and that aura then translates that vision and experience onto the customer.
