User Scenario
“Michael loads the gun with marbles, carefully pulls the trigger with gentle force, aiming towards the alien for the highest score, and he shoots! The shot went flawlessly as the alien falls. Michael then smiled with a daring look.”
The single action that involved in this toy is “pull”.
Step 1: Place the Alien on the gaming board
Step 2: Load the marbles into the firing gun
Step 3: Pull the trigger
Step 4: Release the trigger
The main idea for this toy is to hit the alien with marbles in ONE shot to obtain various score. It could be play by multiple users, as they compete with shooting the alien with one shot only. This toy is based on the metaphor of “gun firing”. It enhances the experience because simulating gun shooting often creates excitement. Since there is certain distance between the alien and the gun, it creates a level of difficulty. Controlling the tension of the trigger also creates another challenge because the speed of the firing marble is determined by the repelling force of the trigger.
This toy is targeted for boys between the ages of 6-8. It has visibility, as the state is very clear since it is not powered by electricity. Affordance is straightforward, and feedback is also clear as the alien will fall if it got shot by the marble. It does not require any mapping or constraint because the interaction is common sense and obvious.
